Virgil LeRoy Sellers Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Virgil LeRoy Sellers, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at his home in Fairfield, California, where he lived for 61 years. Virgil was born on June 10, 1932 as the ninth of 13 children born to Andrew Jackson Sellers and Josephine Elsie (Foley) Sellers of West Terre Haute, Indiana. Virgil was raised in West Terre Haute, graduating from Valley High Class of 1949. Following in his eight brother's footsteps, Virgil enlisted in the military. Virgil chose the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. During his career, Virgil flew 26 combat bombing missions in a B-29 over North Korea. Virgil served in our nation's military during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his military career, Virgil transitioned into civilian life where he worked as a cabinet maker. He worked for two different custom cabinet shops before opening his own. Virgil was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, receiving their two highest awards, the Silver Beaver and Golden Bear. Later, Virgil spent much of his time volunteering at the Solano Land Trust, Rush Ranch as a blacksmithing instructor and local historian. Virgil also volunteered at the Pena Adobe Historic Society, Matt Garcia Foundation and the Doolittle Air Museum. Virgil married PatsyAnn on May 4, 1951. Virgil and PatsyAnn had four children, Bonnie Sue (Neidlinger), Michael Lee, John Frederick, and Daniel Wayne. Virgil was blessed with a plethora of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Virgil could fix most anything, and welcomed every opportunity to help others. Virgil was well-known for his line "Let me tell you a story." He will be missed. Virgil was predeceased by both parents, five of his eight brothers, and all five of his sisters.
