Vinh Lee

February 25, 1935 - February 4, 2021

Feb. 25, 1935 - Feb. 4, 2021 Vinh X. Lee was a highly accomplished musician, performing at clubs and as a member of a traveling orchestra, as well as in the military band. He played a variety of instruments including: trumpet, flute, piano and guitar. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and relocated his family to Travis AFB during the late 1970’s. He worked as a chef in the Officer’s Club at Travis AFB and was an ads illustrator in the Daily Republic Newspaper, while also illustrating window art for local businesses in downtown Fairfield. He also worked as a custodian for Sheldon Elementary School, but retired several years later due to lingering health issues. He was fluent in several languages and often volunteered translation services to many residents in the local area. Vinh passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Vinh is survived by his wife of 60 years, Soan P. Hyunh; son, Vinnie Q. Lee, daughter-in-law, Ruth MacLaren; daughter, Binh L. Lapurga, son-in-law, Eric R. Lapurga; son, Rob D. Lee, daughter-in-law, Olga L. Villagrana; grandchildren, Kaira L. Lapurga, Derick L. Lapurga, Hannah L. Lee, Sophia G. Lee and Olivia A. Lee; and numerous brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his father, Hung C. Lee; mother, Chin Uong; and brother, Tung M. Lee. Drive-thru services will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, with prayers and blessings conducted by Rev. Abraham Chacko of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church afterwards.
