Retired City of Fairfield Water Department employee, Pete Dean, age 90, passed away quietly at home on Friday, April 3, 2020. Pete was born in Naples, Texas and moved to California in 1942. His family lived in the Suisun Valley and later settled in Elmira, California. He met Mary Elizabeth Mathahs in 1950 and they were married on September 8, 1951. Pete worked for the City of Fairfield in the Water Department from April 1, 1957 to August 23, 1990 doing various tasks such as, installing water meters, replacing broken water mains and monitoring the canal during flood times. He also checked the city wells and worked on broken sewer lines as well as reading and repairing water meters. In his off time, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to yearly family reunions and family camping and fishing trips. He also enjoyed working on cars and helping his father-in-law with electrical work. As a family fun time, he would play cards, dominos and parchisi along with family barbeques. Pete is survived by his two children, a daughter, Renee Tittle, age 67,of Middleton, Idaho, a son, William Dean, age 65 of Fairfield, CA, one grandson, Brandon Dean, age 33, of Boise, Idaho and one sister, Ida Mae Garrett, age 78, of Stagecoach, NV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 1997. A family memorial service will be held later this year.
