Michiko Messner

January 27, 1927 - October 14, 2021

Michiko Messner, 94, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021, in Granite Bay, California. She was born January 27, 1927, in Toyama, Japan to Shigeji and Tome Noda. Michiko met her late husband, Lloyd Messner, while he was stationed at Johnson Air Force Base near Tokyo, Japan. This began a story of deep love that broke all barriers and established a lifelong bond of strength, loyalty, and devotion. She was a survivor of World War II and was the eldest child in a family of seven children. Her father died at a very young age leaving behind her mother, Tome, and herself to watch over the rest of the family. Michiko was a courageous woman who faced the ravages of war, always buoyant and cheerful despite the difficulties. She moved to the USA with the love of her life, Lloyd, and began the journey of building a new life. She was a dedicated mother who loved to cook and bake. Her meals and sweets were prepared with meticulous attention to detail and plenty of love. All the lucky recipients of her cooking prowess agree that her creations brought joy and warmth to everyone’s day. Her “famous” zucchini bread, chicken and gravy, tempura, enchiladas, potato croquettes, etc. always left folks asking for more. Needless to say, recipes were shared! Michiko was also a talented cake decorator, seamstress and gardener in her spare time. She had a terrific sense of humor. She smiled a lot. And her laugh was unforgettably hearty and sweet. Her upbeat personality was absolutely infectious. Mostly though, she was loved and respected for her kindness and humility. Michiko was always ready to help and never ever asked for anything. She had a quiet way of doing things behind the scenes, never seeking attention - an exceptional human being who will be missed. Michiko is survived by her daughter and spouse, Agnes and Stephen Alfano. Son and spouse, Michael and Noemi Messner and their children, Mason and Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Messner and daughter, June Messner. The family will be celebrating her life privately, per her request. Condolences may be sent to: A. Alfano 3409 Tea Rose Drive El Dorado Hills, CA 95762
