February 20, 1966 - December 7, 2019
Mia Hernandez (Nini) passed away Saturday evening at her home in Fairfield CA with family members by her side. Mia was born to Antonio Hernandez and Jovita Serrano on February 20, 1966 in St. Helena, California. Raised in Hollister, CA then moved to Napa, CA later on in life. Mia then met and married Jose Gonzalez and had two beautiful children named Gilbert and Lillyana Gonzalez. Mia worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for the Veterans Home. She then later divorced husband Jose, they stayed very good friends for the kids. She would sometimes stop by just to visit with him, have coffee and sweet bread. Moved to Sacramento to help her daughter for two years then moved to Fairfield to be closer to her Mother and to help her. She was special, beautiful, loving caring person. Always thought of others first and always welcomed every one with open arms. Devoted Mother, Daughter, and Friend “To know her was to love her.” Her favorite time of the year was fall because of the holidays. She enjoyed Decorating especially for the holidays, she was always the first one to start putting up decorations. She loved artwork, Crafting with flowers and making different projects. She loved to cook, and to experiment with her recipes. She loves her sweets so of course she loved to bake cakes, brownies, sweet bread, you name it. She loved to read, she would always tell the kids “reading is to keep your brain sharp.” Writing, she loved it. From making holiday cards to sending them out, to making notes, positive notes, and putting them on her wall and her kids room door. Shopping, she loved to get her kids either something they needed or just something she thought they would love and sure enough the kids would always love it, especially coming from her. Listening to music. Her happy place, she loved her lowrider oldies, tejano music with little joe y la familia, to R&B, and even Musica urbana. She loved almost all music especially if it had a good beat to dance to. She was always brave and so strong when the kids were little her and her husband at the time would always take the kids to Disneyland every other summer and even went to Baja California one time, but she wasn’t scared at all. As the kids grew older, it was their turn to take her on road trips like to Venice beach, Disneyland, Huntington beach and even Hollywood. One thing she loved about the road trips was the Pitstops, “to rest for a bit and grab some snackys” She leaves to cherish her loving memory with her kids Gilbert and Lillyana Gonzalez (Son and daughter) Her beautiful smile, presence, and warm heart will be dearly missed and treasured by every one she came across. The family has entrusted Bryan-Braker with the arrangements. Friends and Family are invited to attend a visitation from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Bryan-Braker 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, followed by a Catholic Prayer Service at 3:00 pm at Bryan-Braker.
