Juan Edesio Montenegro

April 20, 1938 - November 20, 2021

Juan Montenegro passed away Saturday November 20th at his home in Fairfield. His six children and family members were by his side. He was only 84 years old. Juan was born in Las Hortensias, Chile to Eduvijis and Arturo Montenegro, the fifth of six children. He went to the San Jose de la Mariquina Seminary for a few years. Although he left the seminary when he was 17, the experience had a great impact on his life. It was during his time as a traveling salesman that he met the love of his life, Margarita. Their family quickly grew and they moved several times as opportunities presented themselves, which took them to Santa Barbara and Collipulli, where Juan worked as a city clerk. In 1979, they decided to emigrate to the states and leave all behind in search of a better future. They settled in San Pablo, CA. Juan and Margarita set out to learn English at Contra Costa Community College, and Juan found a job at Chevron, where he would have a successful career until he retired in 2002. They moved to Fairfield in 2004. Here, Juan enjoyed working in his yard, growing vegetables and taking care of his many fruit trees. He took care of Margarita, especially during her last year battling cancer. She preceded him by almost two years. Juan is survived by his brother Armando, his children Vicky, Cristina, Edu, Monica, Juan Carlos, and Paulo, his sons-in-law Ramon, Edmundo and Armando, his daughters-in-law Wendy and Vange, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and loved ones. Juan leaves a legacy of love, sacrifice and dedication to his family. He will live forever in our hearts. Juan Montenegro falleció el sábado 20 de noviembre en su casa en Fairfield.
