Geneva Irene Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On July 9, 2022 our Lord and Savior called Geneva Johnson home. She’s preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Charles M. Johnson and her son Jerome Eugene Johnson. Geneva was born in Georgia in 1938. Several years later Geneva and her mother moved to New York to be with other family members. She excelled in her educational studies and in high school she became a varsity cheerleader and pep squad member. That’s how she met Charles who was all an all-star/all state basketball player. Geneva and Charles became high school sweethearts in 1953. They got married in 1957 shortly after Charles completed his Air Force boot camp training. The happy couple had 4 children, all boys. Geneva is survived by 3 of her sons; Charles M. Johnson and his wife Deborah, William M. Johnson (Spud), and Antoine Anthony Johnson and his wife Kelly. Her 3 grandchildren; Jayce Johnson and his wife Natasha, Aaliyah Johnson, and Alyssa Johnson. There are 2 great-grandchildren; Jazmyne Johnson and Jazelle Johnson. During Charles’ 24 year military career; the family lived in multiple states. In 1970, the family made their final move to Travis AFB, CA. Over the years the Johnson household was like a community center on whichever base they were stationed. On any given weekend or holiday, Geneva invited people she befriended into her home for a warm meal and fellowship. Her warm heart and giving spirit attracted many friends, whom she treated like family. Charles eventually retired from the Air Force and they bought a home in Fairfield. Geneva was a terrific mother to her children and a mentor to many young adults. She deeply loved her grandkids, her Golden State Warriors, playing pinochle and getting away on casino trips.
