ARTHUR BESS JR. Oct. 8, 1933 - Dec. 20, 2021 Arthur Bess Jr. passed away peacefully in the Lord on Dec. 20, 2021 at his home. Arthur Bess was 88 years old when he passed. Originally from West Virginia, Arthur Bess, Jr. retired from the Air Force in 1973 and settled with his family in Fairfield, California. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as a warehouse manager at Yardbirds Home Improvement Store in Vallejo, California and later as a security guard for Pinkerton Security in Contra Costa County. He fully retired in the 1990s. Arthur Bess, Jr. was also actively involved in the Tri-City Elks Lodge #1662 of the Improved Benevolent Protected Order Elks of the World (IBPOE of W), a fraternal organization in 1978, concluding officially in 2006. Arthur Bess Jr. is survived by his children, Arthur Bess, III, Larry G. Bess, Linda D. Gaines, Kenneth W. (Janet) Bess, Donnie Bess, Ronnie Bess, Brenda M. Clancy, Sandra L. Bess, Bobby Bess, Catherine J. (Andrew) Kalamaras and Yvonne E. Bess-Jones; siblings, Virgil Bess (Columbus, Ohio), Yvonne Gaither (Flint, Michigan) and Dr. Reginald Bess (Columbia, South Carolina); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield, California. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at True Love Baptist Church, 1956 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield, California.
