October 1, 1934 - November 27, 2021
Amelia Clarke 1934-2021 Amelia Maria was born on October 1, 1934, to Teo and Angelina Saucedo in Canatlan, Durango, Mexico. She was the second of seven siblings: Brothers – Pedro, Luis, Antonio, and Jose. Sisters – Elidia and Irene. Amelia married the “Love of her Life” Sgt. John Joseph Clarke and her life changed dramatically. She went from being a country girl to a world-wide traveler. The family lived at various times in Italy, France, and Africa. Amelia and “Johnny” and their five children – Jose, Henry, Paul, Silvia, and Jacqueline eventually put down roots in Fairfield, California. It was here in Fairfield that Amelia was known as a caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was also a dedicated employee, working for over twenty years in the housekeeping departments of David Grant and North Bay Hospitals. She was also especially proud of becoming a U.S. Citizen. Amelia had a “green thumb" and grew all kinds of plants and flowers. She loved to travel, play bingo, and try her luck at the casinos. She delighted in collecting many things and was a self-described “pack-rat”. Her many collections included any type of frog object, especially frog trinket boxes; shelf-sitters with dangling legs, and anything “sparkly”. Amelia was an avid animal lover and had many pets throughout her life. She enjoyed feeding the squirrels in her yard and the birds who would pick at her bedroom window. Amelia had been declining in health for a while, but her zest for life and laughter, and her love of the holidays, especially Christmas, with the family, kept her fighting like a warrior, until the end. She passed away peacefully on November 27, 2021. She will be greatly missed. Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Clarke, her son, Jose Herrera, her sister Elidia Navarro, her brothers Pedro Saucedo, Luis Saucedo, and Jose Saucedo. She survived by her sister, Irene Talamantes (Texas) and her brother Antonio Saucedo (Texas). Her Children: • Henry Herrera (Vivian) - Sacramento • Paul Herrera (Dora) - Sacramento • Silvia Boydston - Fairfield • Jacqueline Agosto - Fairfield Her grandchildren: • Francine Mata - Elk Grove • Iesha Herrera - Sacramento • Rubie Herrera - Sacramento • Tiffany Davis - Las Vegas • Desiree Agosto - San Francisco Amelia also survived by seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
